Lay of the land

Mount Erie is a proterbance on the landscape at Anacortes. Within the area are 5 glacial lakes. Mount Erie can be seen from at least 30 miles away. Below Mount Erie is Scimitar Ridge. This ridge travels northward into Anacortes. Below Scimitar Ridge is Pioneer Trails RV Park. The Fern Hill Cemetery adjoins the RV park. The cemetery affords near- panoramic views. At the same level (elevation) as the RV park is the Gibraltar Road Quarry. Dropping down (steeply) from the RV park (quarry), (cemetery), is Similk Bay and the back end of the golf course. 2 miles toward the north, at bay level is Fidalgo Bay RV Park. Over looking the RV park is Scimitar Ridge. I call all of these areas (except Fidalgo RV Park) as one contiguous area for NG to hunt within. This area is composed of thousand's of square acres. NG will hunt in areas 5 miles from their nesting sites; they also will hunt 5 miles from their southern- wintering quarters (roosting areas). This information is from my personal experiences with NG.
